Statement 09.02.2026 – on recent media coverage of vertebrate palaeontologists
The EAVP is aware of recent media coverage related to the partial release of the Epstein Files, in which the names of some vertebrate palaeontologists have been mentioned. Although no EAVP members have been directly implicated, we are part of the same community as some of those who were, and all vertebrate palaeontologists have a responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of any students in their care, as well as a responsibility for checking their funding sources.
The EAVP is not conducting any investigation in relation to this matter and has no further information beyond what has been made public. We will await the final official resolution by the competent authorities before considering whether to make any further comment or alter our position, always as it relates to our Code of Conduct.
Any members who have related concerns should know that we are here for you and feel free to contact the Diversity Officer, Ethics Officer, or any other Board member.
Sincerely,
The EAVP Board
